Welcome to the UIC Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost
UIC's Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost is the chief academic officer as well as the chief operating officer for the university. All of the colleges, the library, and the academic computing center at UIC report to the Provost. The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) prioritizes and secures resources for campus programs, and develops and oversees academic policy, priorities and initiatives in collaboration with faculty.
Effective January 15, 2015, Dr. Gislason began serving in the combined position of interim chancellor and provost of UIC. He has been interim provost since August and has added the duties of interim chancellor until March 16 when Chancellor-elect Michael D. Amiridis arrives on campus.
