Fellowships are aid given to graduate students as scholarship or stipend in a non-employment-related capacity. Typically, fellowships have a tuition and fee waiver component as awarded by the Graduate College or the awarding agency in conjunction with a scholarship or stipend. In almost all cases, obtaining a fellowship will affect a student's loan eligibility. Typically, students with fellowships are not eligible to borrow or, if they are, eligible for only a small amount of loans due to cost of attendance regulations. For more detailed information about fellowships, please see the Graduate College website.
If you will be receiving a fellowship, you will need to report it the OSFA once you receive your financial aid award notification via your electronic award letter .
