Economics Department Earns Top Ranking
In the recently published April 2008 issue of the Southern Economic
Journal, UIC’s department of economics was ranked first in the nation in
urban and regional economicsbesting a host of prestigious programs,
including Harvard. The department was also ranked seventh in the nation in
the health, education and welfare category. The rankings were compiled for
17 fields in economics and based upon 20 years of journal publications
(weighted by the impact of the journal) from departments with PhD programs.

Professor David Koehler was interviewed by First Business Morning News regarding the business and benefits of social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook. He spoke specifically about the current problems with MySpace and what the company hopes to accomplish through its site redesign.
